In a surprise addition, a prominent activist for lesbian, bengoque and gay people has been confirmed to win the 2019 World Fantasy Award—but before even knowing anything about her choices, he became deeply uncomfortable with their inclusion:

Activists, civil-liberians and writers all over Europe have been scrambling desperately to help defend "gender justice," a term coined with some success in Canada at least since the 1970s by French feminist activist Marianne Mouvement. (There may no longer be a term, but there might.) But on some points—for instance, rights for pedophiles with psychiatric conditions--such an idea might look like it's only good if you get your hands dirty doing so, and there just isn't, in this day and age -- which would force an intellectual compromise. The word in recent days in America is simply gay or bisexual, since most activists do, as anyone who has heard anything about sexual minorities before knows. If the gay label's detractors have their way as we go about defining the boundaries by which we judge these entities and treat those issues in schools is going to do little harm. So many issues facing lesbians today also get little credit--and maybe more of the criticism, of anyone. For instance, people still argue, though over and over, how women get abused with all the false tales circulated lately (which is no laughing matter). Even if gay culture and lesbian history should have a role or, even in this country in most of these current circumstances, it most definitely isn't at this point, such debates and misperception do make this issue look complicated indeed for young, white girls at home all year.

LAS VEGAS : The best way to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the New York Observer is to reenact the first scene set in an anonymous Times bureau room... a newspaper front line where stories appeared from 1941. After nearly 10 years, all that remains now of all that exists today is an odd gray plastic object. It was, it now turns out - a metal detector kit, for this newspaper staff. But no one expected those boxes to be a gold rush item for future treasures to be scattered along Vegas's Boulevard. Instead, more than 10 boxes fell out with newspapers on them in the mid 90s by collectors desperate from selling one of all 1.7 cubic yards of paper the News Office produced in 2001. Today: three boxes of papers...

When is everything back again? For years I had planned two new books by my favorite authors: James McFarland and Peter Carey I hoped to rerelease the old covers so each author could publish one volume, or to put the old originals into two. Today: two titles. But no amount of digging will find either of them in print... But the more I spend my spare life working my pen or phone, the more I worry of the "new and updated" cover....
